11 Tips for How to Navigate TCI EXPO
Never attended TCI EXPO? Here are some handy tips:
Before the Show
Check out who’s sponsoring Student Career Days, and be prepared to thank them when you see someone from their company at TCI EXPO!
Take a look at who will be at the Job & Internship Fair – make a list of the companies you know you want to visit first so you know where you want to focus your time. Be sure to spend a few minutes saying hello to everyone else – it never hurts to network and practice your elevator pitch!
Review the full list of Exhibitors beforehand and make notes on which vendors you want to visit.
Explore the educational sessions and forums. Remember, as a student participant, you get full access to everything TCI EXPO has to offer!
Visit TCIA on Facebook and Twitter to network ahead of time with friends and others in the industry. Ask questions about the show, plan a meetup with someone you’ve only “met” online, or check out photos/videos from previous TCI EXPOs!
Don’t forget to bring business cards to help with networking (if you have them – you can get some for pretty cheap from Vistaprint, or print them on your own with business card paper), a cell phone and charger (to take pictures and share with us on social media, of course) and comfortable shoes!
At the Show
Check in with the leader from your school to make sure you have everything you need to sit in on an educational session or hit the show floor to get ahead of the crowds.
Attend our Welcome Reception on Thursday night, from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Enjoy networking and the complimentary hors d'oeuvres!
When meeting people, be sure to ask for their business card. We recommend taking some notes on the back of the card so you can remember things about your conversation with them to reference later on.
Following the Show
Reach out to the contacts you met. If you had a particularly memorable encounter with someone, briefly mention it, and thank them for their time.
Post about your experience on our social media pages. Don’t forget to use our hashtags #SCD2017 and #TCIEXPO2017!
