Petzl, a leader in professional verticality and lighting equipment, will debut a range of new and updated arborist products at TCI EXPO 2018, Nov. 8-10 in Charlotte, N.C. Along with the next evolution of its well-known ZIGZAG mechanical prusik, Petzl will release updated SEQUOIA harnesses, along with a collection of new and redesigned helmets.
“The new arborist equipment was designed around the user - more comfort and increased versatility. These elements improve an arborist’s efficiency, day in and day out,” said Caleb Krausmann, Marketing Manager for the Petzl Professional Division. “Arboriculture is evolving, and Petzl is also evolving to stay at the forefront of performance in the tree care industry.”
Petzl’s new line of helmets focus on all-day comfort and safety for workers. The new STRATO features a modern, low-profile design paired with great ventilation. The helmet also features bi-material liner construction with both expanded polystyrene (EPS) for reduced weight and expanded polypropylene (EPP) for better durability. The STRATO HI-VIZ model features a fluorescent outer shell, glow-in-the-dark headlamp clips, and reflective strips.
The new VERTEX and VERTEX VENT feature an improved shell construction with great shock absorption properties. The six-point textile suspension conforms perfectly to the shape of the head, giving the helmet a very comfortable fit. Additionally, the VERTEX HI-VIZ includes specific high visibility features: a fluorescent outer shell, glow-in-the dark headlamp clips, and reflective decals for optimal visibility in low light conditions.
Additionally, the new helmets are compatible with a number of new accessories based around a user-friendly, modular EASYCLIP system -- the VIZIR and VIZIR SHADOW for eye and face protection, the SHIELD PROTECTOR to protect the VIZIR from scratches when not in use, and the VIZEN MESH to protect from chainsaw debris.
Updated harnesses for 2019 include the SEQUOIA and SEQUOIA SRT. Both harnesses are designed to allow more customization, adjustability, and increased comfort. The new SEQUOIA line improves triangulation/bridge efficiency, while also offering more leg-loop comfort and streamlined buckles. These harnesses feature sculpted and lined foam on the waist loop and leg loops, allowing for more comfort during longer periods of suspension.
The new ZIGZAG and ZIGZAG+ continue to define the standard in mechanical Prusiks. The upgraded ZIGZAG features a larger pulley and an additional attachment point to help mind the system while ascending. The new ZIGZAG+ features a high-efficiency swivel attachment point. Both ZIGZAG designs can be paired with the new CHICANE auxiliary brake to work in Stationary Rope Systems.
Petzl will also introduce the B’mD, an ANSI-compliant aluminum carabiner.
