Women in Tree Care

According to the Institute of Women’s Policy Research, in the United States, only 6.6 percent of women worked full-time in male-dominated occupations in 2017.

While the tree care industry is predominantly male, the gender dynamic is changing. Advances in equipment and techniques make arboriculture an accessible career path for everyone, regardless of gender. Let’s not forget all of the incredible women supporting tree care businesses as office managers, marketing directors, recruiters, sales staff and more!

65% of TCIA staff are women

Each year at TCI EXPO we see more women attending, speaking and exhibiting. This year is no exception! TCIA is thrilled to highlight some incredible woman speakers, women-focused forums and other women in tree care happenings at TCI EXPO 2018.

Women in Tree Care Facebook Group

At EXPO 2017, there was a Women in Tree Care Forum. The speakers and facilitators were fantastic, the engagement was dynamic, and there was a lot of passion to keep the momentum going. Additionally, a group of women gathered at TCIA’s Winter Management Conference 2018 to continue the discussion and brainstorm about what could be done to further foster this idea. The general consensus was to build a community!

TCIA Partners Advancing Commercial Tree Care ROOT partner, ServicePro, stepped in to provide ongoing support of the Women in Tree Care community, and helped create the Women in Tree Care Facebook group, which is open to all women in the industry.

This year, ServicePro sponsored a giveaway for two TCI EXPO Gold Cards. To be considered, participants were encouraged to answer the following question: “What is your advice for women entering the industry?” Here are a few of the responses.
