November 11th at TCI EXPO ’22

What is Student Career Day?

TCIA’s Student Career Day (SCD) is a free career development training and networking event for students pursuing a formal education in arboriculture, horticulture, forestry, or related studies that takes place each year at TCI EXPO. This event is sponsored by Stihl Inc.

It’s a unique opportunity for high school, college, and vocational students who want to learn about the tree care industry, meet professionals, make connections, and win some great prizes.

TCI EXPO ’22 will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina from November 10-12.

This unique opportunity is free for students and includes:

  • Kick-Off Breakfast

  • Free All-Access Pass which includes three full days of TCI EXPO ‘22 with 38+ sessions and trade show floor (November 10-12)*

  • Student Awards Party with epic prizes from Stihl

  • Welcome Reception at NASCAR Hall of Fame

  • Networking roundtables and career-building advice from industry experts

  • Live training on Open Truss Training Lab at TCI EXPOClimb

  • Stihl Student Room for networking

  • TCI Block Party

*Does not include paid pre-conference workshops on November 9.

Key features of SCD 2022 include:

To support students who are pursuing a career in arboriculture, horticulture, or forestry, TCIA provides some funding for colleges and universities to sponsor students to attend Student Career Day at the TCI EXPO ’22 in Charlotte, North Carolina to help defer the cost of travel and food to attend. This event is sponsored by Stihl.

Students sponsored by their school will receive:

  • Student Stipend: TCIA will provide a fixed stipend (per student) for colleges and universities to sponsor students.

  • All-Access Pass: In addition to attending the Student Career Day, students will receive an All-Access Pass to attend educational sessions, forums, trade show, welcome reception, social activities, and panel discussions at the TCI EXPO ’22 from November 10-12. (Attendance is required Friday, November 11.)

  • Networking Events: Students will be invited to attend networking opportunities to meet with industry professionals. Stihl is also hosting a Student Quad room to provide a place for students and company representatives to set up meetings and informal conversations.

  • Awards Celebration:  Students are invited to an Awards Ceremony on Friday, November 11th from 3:30 – 5:00 pm with food, prizes, and fun! (Awards are based on engagement.)

Student Career Day at TCI EXPO 2022

We are excited to get the chance to meet you at this year’s Student Career Days at TCI EXPO 2021! We have been working hard to make this the best event to date! By attending this two-day event, you will be able to network with like-minded people, learn about tree care career opportunities, and begin your personal development as a tree care professional!

NEW! This year, we are excited to announce our brand new, student-only hang-out spot sponsored by STIHL! Students will meet for forums and workshops and enjoy lunch provided by STIHL. This space is for you to meet new people, learn, chat, and grow during your time at the Student Career Days event!

Student Career Days include:

  • Trade Show Floor Tour/Social Challenge! This year will feature new challenges, like this scavenger hunt. Complete as many tasks as possible, with a selfie to prove it, and win the most prizes.

  • New Educational Sessions and Panel Discussions! This year industry experts are collaborating to bring you live discussions on all things tree care-related.

  • New Young Professionals Forum! You will hear the experiences of other young people within the industry, and discuss ways to get involved with TCIA to benefit your career.

  • Career Talk with Certified Arborist and Stihl spokesperson Mark Chisholm

  • Industry Job Fair with fantastic opportunities to build relationships with prospective employers who are looking to hire YOU.

  • Closing Ceremony with awards and swag giveaways.

Student Career Days will leave you with a renewed purpose and direction, new friends, and more career opportunities to begin mapping out your future in tree care! We can’t wait to see you there!

All participating students are invited to join STIHL representatives and sponsors for breakfast and a kickoff event. This includes an event overview, passport concept review, and networking roundtables with other students and sponsors to ask questions, learn more about the industry, and make connections.
